Drove to Grandview Prairie last Sunday. Counted 19 monarchs that all seemed to be searching for plants to nectar on. The goldenrod is just beginning to bloom and there were several areas of ironweed, some compass flowers but the asters were not in bloom yet. Noticed some butterflies around this vine near one of the small ponds and was able to get this shot of a very beautiful Viceroy - easy to see why so many people confuse them with
monarchs.
