Monarch Waystation #271 reports finding a 5th instar caterpillar wandering on the back patio just before 11:30 am. The sun was hot and the larva looked like it was "hot footing" towards the back bed. I carefully placed it on a healthy Purple milkweed in the bed on a shaded leaf, in its defensive curled position. A later check of the plant found the larva resting head down on the stem's shady side. I'm assuming this is the same 5th instar larva I reported to JN yesterday when it was feeding on backyard Swamp milkweed. No photos taken, camera not handy.
