Our remaining two resident juveniles, one male and one female, are still with us, despite temps overnight plunging to 46 degrees. They both look healthy and are fattening up. I had been a bit worried about the little female, but she is also gaining weight as well now. I think she just needed more time without all the others here. The last few days have been absolutely gorgeous, with temps right about 70 degrees in the afternoon. I've been watching these two go after lots of insects and, of course, they continue to feed from both the flowers and feeders. Both have become friendly with me. They both like to sit with me, one at a time, of course, when I'm sitting either out on the back patio or front porch. The juvenile male has been doing this for a couple weeks now; the little female just started this behavior this week. I think she is beginning to feel more confident and sure of herself. She had been heavily bullied by all the other juveniles when she was newly fledged. She was from her mama's 2nd nest this summer. It's so good to see her coming along so well now.
