Counted 60 individual monarchs on this evenings walk around the property. all were seen in the pine trees that make up our wind break. temp 70F, winds out of the southwest at 14mph. Noted that the majority seen were the half size monarchs. Food sources available are lantana, phlox, asters, butterfly bush, zinnia. we witnessed monarchs flying in earlier this afternoon seeking rest from the wind. At least 100 estimated and most were normal size. Tonight's roost participants must have traded spaces with the afternoon visitors.
