I have been watching for Adult Monarchs at Chisholm Creek Park for several weeks now. I have only seen a few adult Monarchs now and then. I know of three locations where the Monarchs had roosted in the fall of previous years. Yesterday at 8AM, for the first time this year, I found Monarchs in the grove to the north of the main parking lot at the Park. I estimate that there were about 50 of them there and I assumed that they roosted there overnight. I succeeded in capturing, tagging and releasing 8 of them. I was so surprised, and happy, to find them that I forgot to take any pictures. Winds were 10-15 miles an hour out of the south and increased to 25MPH out of the south later in the day. Temperatures at 8AM were around 60 degrees. All the Monarchs that I could see had drifted away by 10AM. I returned to the grove this morning and only observed 2 Monarchs.
