Point Pelee National Park at the Tip 4:45-7-40pm sunset 7:18
21°c Mostly sunny with SW wind at 21/34 kmh
Daytime high 23°c
Coldfront arriving overnight. Overnight low 18°

4:40 pm Drove past Sparrow Field. Exited car....No clusters. Saw 2 monarchs flit south. Returned to area at 6:30 to 400 scattered in one area on west side of the road. They were on east side of Hackberry trees. Along walk observed 2 on cedar tree.
7:00pm This area increased to about 500.

4:45 Arrived at shuttle stop to same location of established cluster 3rd evening in a row. About 100 monarchs on Grapevine.
At 7pm this area increased to about 10 clusters scattered in different trees...oak, Hackberry Grape & Virginia creeper & bare branches with dead leaves on them. Total about 500 monarchs.

5:15-6:15 Continued south to Tip. Walking past restrooms noticed clusters in Mulberry behind & to the west of the restroom. About 30.
Continued south to interior. Located established cluster in usual spot on Grapevine & bare branches. A few small scattered clusters. Total about 175.
Monarchs roosted low, 5' off ground & up & also way high over 50'. All sheltered areas.

Goldenrod mostly senesced. Asters in bloom. Did not observe even 1 nectaring.
Fall coloured leaves with Virginia creeper turning red was nice backdrop for roosting monarchs.

All appeared pristine. Managed to see plump abdomens on a few. 1 had slight tear on wing.
They will leave 9/28 on favourable north wind.

Observation by eye, binoculars, camera & clicker.

Lots of visitors/admirers.
Not happy hearing a female brag about rearing 900 this season. Ontario resident, requiring a permit by law which limits 100. She had no permit & pfffft it.

Next 10 days highs of 20°c+- lows of 9+-
Many days with north favourable wind.
