single monarch high above the Moor St. playground fluttering directly N to S at 0823 hrs. this butterfly was visible at such altitude only due to grey cloud deck in background. estimated height at 160 feet, just a speck in the sky but distinctive flight.

this is one of three monarchs seen today, this equals our previous high count on 13 SEP 2021 when we also observed three monarchs. like today, on 13 SEP we observed one along Water St. and then later in the day at a favorite location in west Waterville. if 3 monarchs during a single day represent our high counts, does either of these dates [13 or 28 SEP 2021] correspond to Peak Migration in Central Maine?
