I was at my best Monarch spot which is on the north side of Chisholm Creek Park in Wichita from 3:30 to 4:15 today and saw 20-30 Adult Monarchs which were either resting in the trees and bushes or passing through. I tagged three of them. I went back to this location about an hour before sunset (approx. 7:15 CDT) tonight expecting to find a roost, but I saw only 5 or so adults.

I then went to another Monarch hangout near the parking lot at the Great Plains Nature Center in Chisholm Creek Park and saw 10 or so adults that I assume will roost at that location overnight. I was able to tag two of them.

Winds here during the day were out of the south at 15-20 MPH.
Winds around sunset were light.

Rain and cooler temperatures are forecast for Wichita starting later tonight and continuing for three days.
