Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/29/2021

Number: 1

Ruby throats are still coming through from north of the Twin Cities. I thought the ruby throated hummers were done with us 2 days ago. But had 1 show up early this afternoon and stayed for the evening. So this one will be staying overnight. I think it is an immature male. It nectared at both flowers and feeders. When I saw it the second time it acted nervous approaching a feeder as though there was another hummer in the area. Maybe it was cautious because it might have been hassled during migration. Or maybe there was a second hummer. But I didn't see any fighting. I think this is first time we've had a break in sightings and then a migrator shows up. So, I'm hoping for an October sighting.
