Temp last night hit 34F at 3am, brought butterfly in to spend the night in a cat carrier. Put it outside at ~10am with small cups of honey solution and unsweetened apple sauce. It seemed to have gone to the solution. At 1220pm 60F, went out to take a photo but my approach must have disturbed it. It flew off before I could aim.

It had shown no inclination to avoid being touched when I took it out of the carrier so its later behavior seems like a good sign.
