INCREDIBLE day catching "front end" of the monarchs heading south over this reliable, yr to yr, saddle/overlook, Cherry Cove, on the Blue Ridge Parkway. My 5th day outta 6 searching! Wave after wave of 20-40 at a time, or more, totaling an estimate of 2K between 2 and 5 PM. They flew across from 'head high' to 100 feet,but Many around 10-30 ft or so! Many were large adults. SE wind in there face were un-deterred. A few briefly stopping on Aster to refuel. Milepost 415.7.Absolutely the BEST day i have experienced in many yrs up there!
