Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/04/2021

Number: 4000

We were drift catfishing on Lake Texoma from 9:30am - 4:30 pm. Monarchs were already in flight crossing the lake when we put in. Almost zero wind. The biggest push was just in front of the north cold front which came through about noon. Several thousand were in front of it about 5 minutes before the wind hit. As far as we could see on the open lake we could see monarchs. At one point I counted 100 in one minute. A conservative estimate we saw 2000 - 4000 while on the lake. We were still seeing some as we got off the lake. Tried to video but just can’t see them going over.
