Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/05/2021

Number: 104

On a cloudy and overcast day with temps in the low 70s I spotted 104 monarchs at Jones Beach from 5:15 pm to 6;30 pm. It had rained this morning. Many of the monarchs were still flying into the area from the ocean and quickly located the golden rod, lantana and other flowering plants. I also finally spotted a few small roosts. At about 7 pm I spotted one monarch flying in under the boardwalk light. There is adequate flowering plants in the area for feeding.
