Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/13/2021

Number: 3

Submitted by Don Davis: I received a report from my 80 year old friend, who reared butterflies for decades with her late husband in their large greenhouse, that there were 3 monarchs feeding on her buddleia at 3 pm. Light southwest winds. Overcast with the possibility of showers. Temperature above normal for the past few days - about 20 C or 68 F. There have been a number of reports from across Ontario of late monarch sightings in the past few days, and these above normal temperatures continue until the weekend. Is that southerly flow of wind from the south delaying the monarch migration? See: https://www.windy.com/?43.433,-79.871,5
