I found 15+ monarch eggs on milkweed plants in our pasture. I also saw 7 monarch caterpillars (1st - 3rd instars). This is a photo of two monarch eggs on flower buds of an Asclepias viridis milkweed. One of the eggs is darkening & looks very close to hatching.
