Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/17/2021

Number: 3

From approximately 1:10 pm and 1:30 pm on 10/17/2021, I was taking pictures in a field of Maximillian sunflowers. During that time, I saw three monarch butterflies flying south along East Shell Avenue. One was male, and I couldn't tell the sex of the others. They appeared singly, with about seven minutes between sightings. All of them flew from North to south. Two hovered over the sunflowers like they were trying to nectar, but then flew south. One landed as I was leaving the site, so I didn't see if it nectared or not. Longest sighting duration was about twenty seconds.
