Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 10/17/2021

Number: 500

Several clusters in 5 trees.

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 10/18/21]:

"Hundreds" of monarchs resting in five large trees. The number "500" is only an approximate number from what can be seen in photos and videos. The trees in that place are large, it is a semi-desert place with low-size vegetation, so there are few places for refuge, and that is why monarchs get to concentrate in large quantities on the few trees available in the area. I do not know the scientific names of the trees in this locality. The sources of nectar there are wildflowers.
