Milkweed Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/18/2021

Number: 1

Have been watching this area for zizotes over several years. It usually gets mown down before it can seed. But obviously A FEW make it to dispersing because it continues to slowly spread! This little late patch won’t make blooms, much less pods, but hopefully the roots in the area are WELL established for next year. This is the sturdiest, greenest I’ve EVER seen, though it too was cut to 7” ht in mid-Aug. Others faded away with blooms, but didn’t make pods that managed to fluff and disperse. There are SEVERAL stems here within a 4 ft area, and others are already gone close around. Fingers crossed for MORE next year.
Now, IF ONLY the Johnson grass remediation/“control” sprayings don’t get to the 3 types of milkweed noted earlier in the vicinity ….????
