Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/16/2021

Number: 1

I was driving up Blue Grass Trail, looking at the butterfly bushes in the yard in the distance, and a Monarch Butterfly was flying in the same direction as I was driving! :) Sunny, very windy, and already 74 degrees at 10:30 am. The Monarch was flying into the wind, basically south. :) It appeared to land on a butterfly bush on the opposite end of the same person's house.
I released (12) Monarchs at their neighbor's house on 10/6 and 10/7/21, but stopped doing so because of all the bluejays and cardinals right around there.. I hadn't noticed any Monarchs, when I would check back regularly, until this one appeared... :) It was Super to see, but a long way to Mexico.
A storm was predicted that afternoon, bringing rain and cold weather for a couple days. It still was a sweet sight to see; and the butterfly bushes seem to be lasting pretty long this year. :)
