In mid-afternoon, in the warmth of the day, a mature Monarch was flying around overhead, above the rooftops, back and forth to both sides of the street, and above the houses, and went SW. On the other hand, two day-or-so-old Monarchs did not seem to be able to attain any height in flight. One with slightly warped wings is unable to fly, and another with straight-looking wings flies only some and does not get very high in the air. These two are on the plants in the flower bed. It is about 50 degrees outside, and I will check on them in the morning.
