Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/15/2021

Number: 1

I found a small Monarch caterpillar in my house, and put it outside on some cut-back milkweed that is leafing out a bit. I have otherwise ceased hosting caterpillars for the winter. I have about five more chrysalides in my shrubbery, and when they eclose (this week), and this new little caterpillar completes his cycle, I am done for the season. -- I went the the Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove this evening at dusk and did not see any Monarchs, but I trust they were there in the tall trees, and I just could not see them in the failing light.
