After scoping out monarch habitat in Thornton's Riverdale and Grandview Ponds Open Spaces, Leslie G and I witnessed a beautiful monarch fly right over us, heading SSE, apparently on its way to the overwintering sites in Mexico. It was noon, on a beautiful sunny day.

The sighting was evidence to us that the area supports monarchs.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect too!
