I traveled with a friend to Falls Lake north of Raleigh this morning at 10:30. We saw three monarchs crossing the lake over perhaps 2 miles between 10 and 11. We began counting and by 3 o’clock had counted 14 separate monarchs over 10 miles of lake. All were over open water on a calm, clear day—Thurs. 21 October. All monarchs were heading in a S/SW direction.
