I grow common milkweed in a small yard and have seen all of the other monarch stages this year, but this is the first chrysalis sighting of my life. Seems late in the season for this, in Beverly, MA. I'm so glad that I left the milkweed while cleaning up the yard. Saw a few caterpillars around 10/13, then one hanging on its silk on 10/16/2021. I've been watching it develop each day - thrilling.
