Jones Beach State Park - On a cool partly overcast day with a light NW wind @ 7 mph and temps in the low 60's I observed 184 monarchs from 12 noon to 5pm.
The majority of the monarchs fluttered in from 3 -5 pm and started to roost around 4 pm. The nectaring plants specifically golden rod are drying up with only 20% of them still alive and viable. There are also some lantana flowering plants that are still healthy and a small amount of butterfly bush flowers
