While camping at Guadalupe River State Park we went to the river area to picnic and enjoy the weather. Clear skies and cool temperatures. Early Wednesday morning a front passed thru and shifted the winds to the NNW. We saw 29 Monarchs in directional flight between 12:15 and 1:20. Most flew right past a frostweed patch right next to us. A few stopped for a few minutes then quickly departed. Some were descending after flying over the bluff on the river and others were following the river. Picture is of one of the few that briefly stopped.
