We have been hosting 14 hummingbirds this season in our back and front yard. Most left Oct. 6 - 9, 2021. We had 2 of our females that did not leave and ate at the feeder on Oct. 14th but had left by Oct. 15th.
We usually see migratory hummingbirds but have not seen any, even though we have kept our feeders up and with fresh food, so we are taking them down today. I have noticed each year, even though our hummingbirds enjoy our always fresh feeders, they enjoy our Hardy Hibiscus/Pie Plates, and once they have quit blooming they migrate within 1 - 2 weeks.
We have a green fence of very tall Emerald Green Arborvitae around our backyard that different hummingbird families live. Our feeders are at each corner of the yard near the trees. Our front yard feeder is also enjoyed by several hummingbirds each year that nest in our neighbor's yard.
Thank you for providing this website to help with migration information so we can manage our feeding calendars!
