Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/30/2021

Number: 3

I’m the spring I planted a red milkweed plant from Home Depot an the day I planted it I saw a monarch butterfly on it. On August 30,2021 I noticed the milkweed had been stripped of leaves and there were 3 monarch larva. This fall October 24, I saw a single monarch getting nectar from a lantana in my yard. I figured this one is headed to Mexico. I am a Master Gardener and our group is working on adding host plants for laying eggs and nectar plants for the journey north and the in the fall south.
