Number: 1

After dropping my son at high school I decided on a whim to drive to Point Pelee National Park and have a walk at the tip. Upon arrival I noticed that the wind was fairly strong from the west and there was a lot of wave action so I decided to head to the east side. As is often the case, it was a stark contrast on the east with very calm water and the bright sun helped to create a warmer micro climate there. The temperature on the display in my car read 7C, however, it felt a couple degrees warmer where I was walking on the east beach heading north of the 42 north latitude marker. There was quite a lot of bird activity overhead. I looked up to watch a Bald Eagle take flight from a nearby tree when I saw a Monarch in flight in the foreground. I followed it to where it landed and was able to take a picture with my cellular telephone of him sunning. I observed for five minutes and then decided to move on. As I was leaving he took flight and headed slightly north and then west over the trees and out of my sight. I spent some time after I finished my beach cleanup looking for nectar sources and was able to locate some on the windy west side should he need some sustenance.
He is a little off schedule for Dia Des Los Muertos!
