I counted 35 migrating Monarchs passing over our house in North Central Austin a few minutes apart at mid-day, some of them flying directly southwest, some dropping down to feed briefly on our native flowers and then flying on. I saw 5 more Monarchs flying at tree level in the same direction as I walked a few blocks to the post office. Then, in the late afternoon, when I was in South Austin at Stacy Pool, I counted about 10 Monarchs flying southwest above the pool.
