Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 11/14/2021

Number: 100

They are flying over our house four or five at a time

[Additional information contributed by observer, added by Journey North, 11/15/21]:

We sat on our outside patio and watched for a couple of hours as the monarchs passed over head. They passed in two or three at a time. No great swarm. I really think we saw more than 200 but I didn’t want to exaggerate.

The timing was between 2-4 pm

They all followed the exact same flight plan passing thru our small yard and then over the top of the neighbors house in southwest direction.

It was a nice sunny day and none stopped. The height was just over my extended arm length as I commented to my husband that I could almost catch one.

I just had my phone for filming so I can’t see any of them on film.

This morning they are still passing but I haven’t sat and watched for any great length. Same southwest direction. They are a little higher this morning. It would be nice to see their path further as we have a massive mountain directly south of us. As you may know we are in Monterrey Mexico.

A few years ago we saw them pass but we’ve been out of country for a couple of years with COVID. My goal is to get to the Oyamel fir tree forest in winter to see their winter cluster.
