I have had numerous caterpillars on my tropical milkweed in the last month. Of the ones I have been able to observe going into J's - a very high percentage have not been able to morph into the chrysalis and if they did, they were not able to emerge. Parasitism is very high.
Note: I did trim my milkweed back severely in late August to decrease the parasitism issue. Of the ones I have been able to monitor, as of this date I have only seen three emerge into seemingly healthy butterflies
