It appears this butterfly recently hatched from the chrysalis. Its wings are dry and rigid, but when first observed about 15:30 it was clinging to the empty chrysalis. During observation is did move along the fence and open/close its wings several times. When I left the butterfly garden it was still clinging to the fence.
