Three monarch butterflies observed simultaneously seeking nectar in tall coreopsis plot. Photo taken at 1:30 pm (CT), sunny, 73 degrees F. Monarchs accompanied by (6) fritillaries and (5) skippers. Currently no monarchs attempting to lay eggs on existing milkweed. Note: Ecosystem currently has the persistent presence of (2-3) hummingbirds, possibly ruby-throated or black-chinned (attempting to positively ID). This site experienced overwintering hummingbirds in winter of 2020 (black-chinned).
