Brought 7 cats inside on Jan 1st, when we had freezing temperatures for 2 days. All made into chrysalis but I disposed of 2 that were contaminated with black fungi.
One looks too small, other 3 look perfect and 2 more should emerge anytime now.
Very windy outside, I will have to give them nectar and transfer to a bigger habitat until it’s safer to release them.
I still have 6 in the last instar and 1 in 4th instar that were brought in a few days later at earlier stages as more freezing temp was blowing… one was disposed of because of black fungus all others are doing well.
Feeding last instar with butternut squash as all my milkweed plants are completely eaten!
I also have seen adults laying eggs almost daily the whole month! So my milkweeds are not regrowing as there has been non stop cats eating them.
