One female *torn wing and tattered, laying eggs on milkweed over 3 day period. I noticed 7 caterpillars on the milk weed and several eggs. I brought the caterpillars inside, as our first hard freeze was predicted. Two of the 6 of the 7 made crysalis stage, and 2 have enclosed, producing 2 large females. Tachinid larvae were the reason the other 4 died. We still have freezing nights and NO natural food for the adults. I have made honey/water mixture for them to eat (1:7 solution). I have them in an empty 15 gal aquarium. One adult looks poor, the other is active. They are 4 days (poor looking one) and 3 days (other female) old today. I would have loved to release them, but with the lack of outdoor food sources, and freezing temps, I decided to try to maintain them indoors. Looks like this may not be successful...
