this immature eagle was perched on the western shore of the Kennebec River along lower Water St. Waterville, ME about 150 m downstream of the tree where we often see adult eagles. three minutes after the photo was taken, this eagle flew hard upstream along the Kennebec at treetop level.

earlier today we had seen an immature eagle (perhaps this same bird?) and an adult eagle soaring high above Ticonic Falls approximately 3 kilometers upstream of this site.
