our repeat location to find bald eagles. this is a favored perch for eagles in a large black cottonwood along the western shore of the Kennebec river. note that the tips of the primary feathers reach just beyond the tip of the tail feathers on the smaller bird to left of image while the primaries are slightly shorter on the bird to the right. is the smaller bird the male in this resident pair of eagles?
