There has been at least 1 female ruby throat hummer that has over-wintered in our Ocala, Florida yard. There is a great of cover for the various birds that frequent our yard. (About 80'x10'x30' of dense viburnum hedge and about the same amount bamboo in the back yard that provides good coverage.) Beginning 02/10/22 I started hearing twitter fights, so there must be at least 2 or more protecting their territory. I haven't seen any males yet as of 03/01/22. There has also been a good amount of shrimp plant blooming since Christmas even though we've had a few nights of temperatures from 28 to the low 30's F so far this winter. The bees are taking over the feeders so I ordered bee guards and will see if that doesn't keep them away from the feeders.
