I used to love seeing the redwings in the marshes, but when my feeders are overtaken by hordes of them, driving away all other birds, I am not quite so delighted. In the five years we’ve lived here, this is our spring experience. The numbers will increase daily for some time. Last year, they continued to swarm our feeders for the entire summer and into the fall, I assume because their normal choices of insects and such were in short supply.
