True song. 4:52PM. There have been numerous robins checking out territories lately. It’s warmer than normal today. They began searching for insects on the ground for the first time today as the ground began to thaw.
One of them was vocalizing and began singing the true song (The one you hear at 3AM, and at sunset) at around 4:52PM.
This is earlier than average, but only a few days. Usually I hear true song for the first time by around March 8th. It will be much colder next week, so I expect to see them less active on the ground for the time being in the coming days.
