I spotted my first Monarch on February 12, 2022 @ 11am (PST) while the temperature was in the Low 70's.
I was in the parking area of the University of Nevada, Reno Research Orchard in North Las Vegas.
As this unexpected sighting was brief, I was unable to capture a photo or determine a sex.
This Monarch simply floated from the edge of the vegetable garden, over the mulched in bare root trees, turned north and headed into the adjacent orchard.
I learned that this was a significant sighting after watching a (likely the same?) Monarch fly the same location and pattern twice on the morning of March 4, 2022.
If time were to stop long enough for me to close my awed mouth, I may be able to photograph the next sighting.
Wish me luck and skill!
