Ice is out now on Crystal Lake - as of 5 April. Loons were noted stopping in water clear of ice along the west edge of the lake. They then did a classic loon take-off low over the ice to other waters, east to the other side of the lake.
They looked younger (smaller) than the nesting pairs we have noted in the past.
