Observed a worn female monarch butterfly attempting to find milkweed in my backyard. The weather was partly cloudy and very windy. As I watched the butterfly she had trouble navigating in the gusty winds. A severe storms front is arriving this afternoon. The monarch came close to within a foot of the Common and Purple milkweed that was emerging from the soil (one to six inches in height) then a very strong gust of wind blew the monarch out of the backyard. No picture was taken.
