Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/16/2022

Number: 8

I have many milkweed in my backyard. For the last several weeks I've seen Monarchs laying eggs and the many stages of caterpillars. Today I photographed 6 on the plants (stripped bare) one making its way to a place to form it's chrysalis and unfortunately a wasp eating a newly formed chrysalis. The yellow jacket wasps are very predatory in my area and I've seen this sad occurrence a few times.
