Yesterday, I noticed that the nectar in a tube feeder had gone down. I knew a hummer had visited. I was excited that I would see one soon. So, today on a very chilly and rainy day, at 3:31 pm, I saw the first male ruby throated hummingbird of the season. It was 48 degrees with a windchill of 43. Wind was ENE at 12 MPH with gusts up to 30MPH with patchy light rain. Earlier than last years first sighting on April 27th.
He lingered at the feeder and I was able to get a picture. The little guy looked healthy.
...and so it begins.....
