Amazingly, after a 1,300-mile trip he was right on schedule. Here are the dates of our 1st sighting of a Ruby Throated Hummingbird in Bloomington, Indiana for the last ten years. We live 55 miles south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In summary, the dates in April of our first sightings have been; 15th, 19th, 20th (3), 21st (2), 22nd (2) and 23rd. Over the previous 10 years the ‘average’ arrival date has been April 20.3. This year, to get ready for our first sighting, we put up our feeders on April 2nd and we have had our cameras set up on tripods for one week.
