We are in Englewood, Florida as snowbirds and have purchased pink Asclepius plants to take north. An adult has been visiting the plants which we keep on our outside patio. Unknowingly, she has laid eggs which have hatched into various stages from 1st instar to approximately 3rd instar developmental stages. I brought the plants indoors to discourage her from revisiting. We will be taking plants and larvae to PA with us next week. This occurred last year also. All 13 cats survived and were released in PA at that time. I’m not certain how many are currently munching due to sizes of the larvae. Hopefully they survive and continue their lifecycles in the north. I looked for wild Asclepius plants in our area and have had no luck. I’ll continue searching in a few days. If I locate an area, I plan to transfer larger cats to the native plants.
