Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/23/2022

Number: 2

Eggs laid by a monarch lady on 4/12/22 finally hatched outside on my milkweed either today or yesterday (4/23/22). Extraordinary timeframe in my experience. 12 days! I know this timeframe is certain, because I immediately covered my milkweed with a breathable plant cover after the egg laying and a friend took 28 eggs from the same plant just days after they were laid. Hers hatched indoors within 5 days. Outside, they took 12 days.
