Resident Ruby Throated Hummingbirds. We previously reported a transient on their way north.
Last evening, we saw a gorgeous male Ruby Throated hummingbird repeatedly filling up on nectar in the front of our home.
This morning, at least one female Ruby Throated Hummingbird visited at least three times.
The timing is good, our gorgeous Honeysuckle vine began blooming today. It's throwing out buds for at least 200 nectar feeding sites. I just finished adding potash and bone meal to at least 50 zinnias, 4,000 red peony poppies, 50 Mexican sunflowers, 3,000 red impatiens, eastern red Columbine, foxglove, fuchsias, trumpet vines, astilbe, and many more.
In May, I am building a misting station, a water feature. This will be a very good year!
